SOLDIERS OF LIGHT

2025 | 108 min | 4K | Wood Water Films & patatino / ZDF / Hessen Film & Medien

SOLDIERS OF LIGHT sheds light on a growing scene of influencers, life coaches and self-proclaimed healers who spread conspiracy narratives and are closely linked to Reich citizens. Their clientele ranges from so-called sovereignists and self-administrators who seek to break with the Republic of Germany and legitimize themselves through their own identity papers and bureaucratic structures, to people who are seriously physically or mentally ill.

One of them is Timo, who has become increasingly radicalized since the protests against protective measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. His biggest role models, David aka “Mister Raw” and “spiritual healer Sananda”, claim that his psychotic delusions are “occupations” by dark forces that he can cure with food supplements and fasting.

With a purely observational camera, we follow “Mister Raw” and his team as they create their conspiracy ideology content, marketing strategies and value creation processes. In this way, the film examines the neoliberal, self-optimization-oriented world of this scene and focuses on the interpersonal relationships it creates.
